With permission from the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Georgia National Cemetery Advisory Council (GNCAC) coordinates and funds Memorial Day observances at the cemetery. GNCAC plans a dignified morning of activities to include a ceremony with appropriate guest speakers, educational activities to engage families, headstone flag placement, and usually a patriotic flyover. The event is typically observed near the Assembly Area and the event is always free and open to the public. More information about upcoming events will be posted.

GNCAC's last Memorial Day observance included remarks by Major General (Ret) James Everette Livingston, USMC. For action against enemy forces, he received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Visitors heard his story and met the man behind the medal. In addition, visitors were able to view the touring replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and learned about its history. The event concluded with public participated flag placement and a flyover by the Tiger Flight Foundation.
