Georgia National Cemetery Observances of Memorial Day 2023 will take place at 11:00 am Saturday May 27,2023 at the cemetery assembly area.  At the conclusion of the ceremony guests will be invited to position American Flags at all gravesites.

With permission from the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Georgia National Cemetery Advisory Council (GNCAC) coordinates and funds Memorial Day observances at the cemetery. GNCAC plans a dignified morning of activities to include a ceremony with appropriate guest speakers, educational activities to engage families, headstone flag placement, and usually a patriotic flyover. The event is free and open to the public.

GNCAC's 2022 Memorial Day observance was held May 28,2022 and included remarks by Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Scott McElroy.  Sergeant McElroy served 22 years of active duty in Counter Intelligence, and then served further in the Georgia National Guard.   He provided thought provoking and inspiring words of remembrance of just how Memorial Day came to be.  Following the ceremony volunteers and guests positioned American Flags at all gravesites.
