Georgia National Cemetery Observances of Memorial Day 2023 will take place Saturday May 27,2023 at the cemetery assembly area. The Ceremony will commence at 9:00 am. At the conclusion of the ceremony guests will be invited to position small American Flags at all gravesites. Georgia National Cemetery has 22 service members that were Killed In-The-Line of Duty (KIA). These 22 KIAs will be honored during this year's ceremony.
Due to traffic concerns, those attending are highly encouraged to carpool if at all possible. Off cemetery parking has been arraigned at the Sutallee Baptist Church, 895 Knox Bridge Hwy (Rt 20), White, GA 30184. This is about five miles west of the cemetery. Shuttle service will be provided starting at 8:00 am from the church. The shuttle service will run until 12:00 pm.
With permission from the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Georgia National Cemetery Advisory Council (GNCAC) coordinates and funds Memorial Day observances at the cemetery. GNCAC plans a dignified morning of activities to include a ceremony with appropriate guest speakers, educational activities to engage families, and headstone flag placement. The event is free and open to the public.
GNCAC's 2022 Memorial Day observance was held May 28,2022. See photos of last year's observance below.
